Great list - H.G. Wells FTW!!! I could have done a whole list just based on classics - Ivanhoe, Jane Eyre, Kidnapped...LOL, now I want to do my list over! H.G. Wells would definitely be on it!

If you want a bit darker and fragmented travel reading, try Henry Rollins' Black Coffee Blues. It is quite edgy but I just love the little lines of wisdom here and there. :)
