3 Celebrity Memoirs I Recommend

I have read some fantastic non-fiction in the time I have been away from my blog.
An area I have fallen in love with is the celebrity biography memoir genre. I love reading the history of someone's life, the ups and downs and the inside information that can be gleaned from the pages.

I thought I would share some of my favourites from the last couple of years with you in the hopes that it encourages you to pick them up too.

Mrs Hinch: This Is Me by Mrs Hinch (Sophie Hinchcliffe)

Mrs Hinch is an Instagram icon. If you have never heard of Mrs Hinch, she is an Instagrammer who rose to fame simply by sharing her love of cleaning her home. Her Instagram page has amassed millions of followers who love not only her posts but her.
I loved this memoir as it gave the reader an insight into Sophie, without the Mrs Hinch persona.
Reading about Sophie's childhood, her insecurities with her body which led to her having gastric band surgery and almost dying from complications and how she started her Instagram page and changed her life forever.
I think the reason this book resonates with me is the same for a lot of her followers - it is Sophie's honest voice, her ability to be vulnerable and her incredible positive outlook on life.
Mrs Hinch drives home the message of happiness in the everyday things in her book Mrs Hinch: This Is Me

Me Life Story by Scarlett Moffatt

If you have been a long time fan of Gogglebox, as I have, you will recognize Scarlett Moffatt immediately.

From recanting her childhood growing up and her teenage years, I loved learning more about Scarlett, her family and her witty thoughts on life.

I particularly enjoyed her discussing her life with Bels Palsy and how it affected her. Other areas I particularly enjoyed were reading about Scarlett's college years, her love for ballroom dancing (can we get her on a dancing show soon please!) and a behind the scenes insight into how the Gogglebox show is made.

This book made me laugh, smile and at times really sympathize with the hardships Scarlett endured. If you do pick this up I highly recommend the audio version which is read by Scarlett herself.

Son Of A Silverback by Russel Kane

I had little knowledge of Russel before going into this book, apart from his excellent work on my favourite podcast Evil Genius, so this book really surprised me with how much I loved it.

Russel really dives into his life growing up in a working-class family, the misogyny and toxic male expectations he had thrust upon him his entire life and how he paved his own path to success as a brilliant comedian.

I loved the audiobook of this one, read by Russel himself, and found myself laughing and having incredibly thoughtful moments around his thoughts and criticisms of toxic masculinity. Highly highly recommend.
Also, please check out his podcast; it is brilliant.

So those are 3 fantastic celebrity autobiographies I read during my time away. I am completely in love with the genre now, and you may have noticed have discovered a love for audiobooks too.

If you pick up any of these, please let me know, or if you have any other celebrity biographies that you would like to recommend to me - comment below or drop me a DM on my socials - all at @Shannonbookworm
