Cut by Patricia Mc Cormick

(Warning Spoilers !)

Plot : "A tingle arced across my scalp. The floor tipped up at me and my body spiraled away. Then I was on the ceiling looking down, waiting to see what would happen next." Callie cuts herself. Never too deep, never enough to die. But enough to feel the pain. Enough to feel the scream inside. Now she's at Sea Pines, a "residential treatment facility" filled with girls struggling with problems of their own. Callie doesn't want to have anything to do with them. She doesn't want to have anything to do with anyone. She won''t even speak. But Callie can only stay silent for so long...

Review:
This book was very good. It was so hard to read about Callies problems and her isolation in "sick minds". But when she finally started to open up I felt so happy for her. I felt the book was paced perfectly. The whole thing was a journey for Callie and by the end of it I was shedding tears of joy. The part where she runs off and decides she wants to get better is so beautiful . I felt so happy !. I also liked how instead of joining the other "Cutter" and engaging in cutting in the hospital, she goes to her guidance counsellor and starts to talk about her problems.  This book is very touching and is very honest. I can see why it was banned but I think more people should read this as it opens your eyes to the emotions and isolation felt by someone suffering from depression.

Four Star book   * * * *
