5 Books About Pandemics

As the world currently tries its best to deal with the Cov-id 19 breakout, there are a lot of us spending more and more time inside. Whether that be because we are working from home, social distancing or self isolating ourselves as we are feeling sick - we all have to keep ourselves entertained and occupied in this time. 

I've always loved reading YA books about dystopian worlds where there is a virus or disease at the centre of the plot. In these stories, the hero always wins. So will we. 



Partials by Dan Wells (Review)

Partials is a really underrated book that I never see anyone else talking about. I read it back in 2013-ish when Dystopian was at the peak of its popularity. 

3 Reasons To Read This Book: 
1) The characters are so vibrant. Kira, the protagonist, is so badass. The whole cast of characters is so entertaining. 
2) The virus is really delved into in the book. So if you're  "science-head" then you will love this. It goes deep into virology and the roots of it. Really interesting
3) The history and background of the origins of the world are so well written. We love a dystopian with a rich thick background *chefs kiss*

Review: Zom-B: City (#3) by Darren Shan

Plot:

Review: Zom-B: Underground (#2) by Darren Shan

Review: 

I devoured both Zom-B and Zom-B: Underground in less than a day each. When I finished Zom-B, I was so happy that I was able to go to my library and take out the next three  books in the series. I think I am planning on reading the series back to back, one novel after the other. The books are so action paced and relatively short that I hope I can finish them all in a matter of days. 


Zom-B: Underground kicks off with B in a whole new environment with a new bunch of characters. She is now a zombie, or revitalised as the new characters refer to it as, but she also is able to communicate and think independently. This novel throws a lot of obstacles B's way which she has to deal with. I think we definitely see her grow a little as a character as she stops trying to put up a front to impress people and tries her best to be less racist and bullying. 

Monthly Wrap Up: October 2013

Hello readers ! I am still in shock over how fast this year is going, someone give it a speeding ticket-( I apologise for that horrible joke). 

Moving on, October was a much better reading month for me than last month. I managed to read 8 books ! I also was able to review 5 books. There is plenty more reviews to come for November, so keep an eye out.

Review: Zom-B by Darren Shan

B doesn't fully buy into Dad's racism, but figures it's easier to go along with it than to risk the fights and abuse that will surely follow sticking up for Muslims, blacks, or immigrants. And when dodging his fists doesn't work, B doesn't hesitate to take the piss out of kids at school with a few slaps or cruel remarks. 

That is, until zombies attack the school. B is forced on a mad dash through the serpentine corridors of high school, making allegiances with anyone with enough gall to fight off their pursuers. 

Review: 

My younger brother received this book as a Christmas present last year and I have been interested in it since. I finally got around to reading it this month, which is perfect as it is spooky enough to read at Halloween. I've read the first two novels in Darren Shan's Demonata series years and years ago, and I remember enjoying them, so I was excited to read this book. 

One thing I really enjoyed about this book was that it really does lay down a solid foundation for the series to build upon. In the book , the actual zombie action doesn't begin until around 75% of the way into the novel. I liked how the beginning and middle of the book gave the reader lots of background information on the lives of the characters without making it dull. I was entertained the entire way through the novel, even when there was no action or plot twists.
