Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books That You Wish Were Taught In Schools

TFIOS- This book teaches you so much about the human spirit in times of hardship and love, loss and relationships.

HARRY POTTER- This book teaches you about friendship, first love and good over evil.

ARTEMIS FOWL- Great for a primary school / middle school. The book is funny and clever but also carries a strong message.

MAGGOT MOON- A strong message about being different and being discriminated against.

GO ASK ALICE- A harrowing story of a girl whose life is affected by drugs. Would also be good for class debate as to whether the diary is real of fictional.

CUT- The same reason as above. Also you get to see how a mental hospital is dipicted by the author.

TPOBAW (The Perks Of Being A WallFlower)- Mental health issues, drug use and first love and friendship. All would be good topics for discussion in secondary / high school.

THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE- Grief, death, love, loss and poetry, all seem good for class reading.

THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHTTIME- The book would be great for debate on the way he was treated and the metaphor of the dead dog.

YOU AGAINST ME- Deals with sexual abuse, rape, and love over coming family fueding.

MY SISTER  LIVES ON THE MANTELPIECE- Deals wit harrowing issue of racism and 9/11

  2. I have some of these on my list too. I would love to read Harry Potter in school but maybe some would hate it just because it's a required read. I need to check out some of these, they sound interesting :)

    My Top Ten Tuesday.

  3. Awesome list! I haven't read Maggot Moon but added that to my reading list, since it sounds like something I might like.
